Friday Evening – June 3th



6:30  -  7:15

Pot Luck Supper  RAIN OR SHINE - if it is clear - side yard of Carlin Hall - 5711 4th St S. - 

Bring plenty of food to share.  Beverages, plates and eating utensils provided.

Don’t forget a lawn chair or blanket. 

(If it is raining we will be at St. John’s church basement  - 5th & S. Lexington).

6:30 - 9:30*

Block Party – Outdoor dance  (S. Kensington between 3rd & 4th  by the Library)  -

Our musical entertainment will be Quarter Mexican (see below).

Bring your favorite CDs for music between sets.

Don’t forget to bring a chair, snacks and some beverages to share. 

Sno-cones will be available for $0.50. 
The County block party permit does not allow alcohol.

Quarter Mexican

Quarter Mexican is a collaboration by three founding (now retired!) members of Arlington music scene local legend Gonzo's Nose and includes Glencarlynite Jon Discount.  QM has been performing in the Washington, D.C. area since 2007.  They play a variety of popular cover music from the '80, '90s and beyond. 


They delighted the crowd at the block party in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.  Their photos from GCA Day 2013

Saturday, June 4th  
(4th Street between Lexington and Kensington is closed from 10 am - 3 pm)

Pancake Breakfast    RAIN OR SHINE

Picnic Shelter in park – at the bottom of the hill at the  3rd and Harrison Street entrance to the park.

Come visit with your neighbors and enjoy a delicious breakfast of pancakes (regular or blueberry) and sausage, coffee or juice for $5 a person or $15 for families.


$5 discount for each household which has completed a survey.


A Park Naturalist from Long Branch Nature Center will have animals from 9-10 am

Library Open House  RAIN OR SHINE

 Sign up for the Summer Reading Program "Read for the Win".  Kick off begins with relay runners arriving at the library at 12:15 and leaving at 12:30. 

Greet the relay runners while having an ice cold treat!  You can also make an Olympic Poster! (300 Kensington)

Hot Dog Roast

It just wouldn’t be Glencarlyn Day without having grilled hot dogs with all the fixin’s at St. John's. They will have cold beverages too!

Pupusas and Lemonade Cristo Rey will be preparing home made pupusas - (stuffed corn tortillas)

Both on the grounds of St John's - 4th St. near Lexington

Glencarlyn Parade

The theme for the parade is “The Force Awakens - Star Wars and Super Heroes”.  

11:15 - 11:45*


Parade Bike & Float Ornamentation

Colored streamers will be available for decorating your stroller, bike, trike, wagon, or even your pet on a leash.  Children of all ages welcome.  Lexington between 4th & 5th

Glencarlyn Day Parade

The parade begins moving promptly at 11:45 -

and features a lots of kids of all ages, a fire truck, police cars.

Parade Route –Staging on Lexington between 4th & 5th   -   Lexington to 3rd   -  3rd to Jefferson   -  Jefferson to 5th   -  5th to Kensington    -    to Carlin Hall

Moon Bounce and Sno-cones

Carlin Hall grounds (5711 4th St. S.) -  (sorry no Fun Fair this year)

Sno-cones will be available for $0.50  --  Moon Bounce is also $0.50

Touching History 

Library under the front portico.  The Arlington Historical Society will have historic artifacts that all ages can touch and handle. Learn how each item had a historic place in Glencarlyn and in Arlington.

Community Garden Tours & Plant Sale

In the Community Garden behind the Library (3rd & S. Kensington). 

Tours by Master Gardeners of the various gardens including native plants, those used for cooking, for fragrance or beauty of their flowers or foliage. 

"Garden notecards" and some plants will be on sale.

Glencarlyn House Tour RAIN or SHINE

Check for homes on that tour at the potluck supper, block party, pancake breakfast or Carlin Hall (12-2 Sat) for a locations map.

The Historic Ball Sellers House  5620 3rd St S the oldest house in Arlington will be one of the homes on the tour.
