Friday Evening, June 1st

6:00  – 7:15*   Pot Luck Supper  – side yard of Carlin Hall – 5711 4th St S. –  Bring plenty of food to share.  Beverages, plates and eating utensils provided. Don’t forget a lawn chair or blanket.  (Rain Date Saturday).
6:30  – 9:00*  Block Party – Outdoor dance – (S. Kensington between 3rd & 4th  by the Library)
Our musical entertainment will be Quarter Mexican.
Bring a chair and snacks and beverages to share and CD of music you would like to hear between sets.  Sno-cones will be available for $0.50
The County block party permit does not allow alcohol.

Quarter Mexican
Quarter Mexican is a collaboration by three founding (now retired!) members of Arlington music scene local legend Gonzo’s Nose and includes Glencarlynite Jon Discount.  QM has been performing in the Washington, D.C. area since 2007.  They play a variety of popular cover music from the ’80, ’90s and beyond.

Saturday, June 2nd 

8:00  – 10:00*  Pancake BreakfastRAIN OR SHINE at the shelter in park – at the bottom of the hill at the 3rd and Harrison Street entrance to the park ($5 a person – $15 maximum for families).
Remember to bring money for GCA dues $15. Checks are accepted. 
Also be selling Glencarlyn shirts, totes, note cards and other items.
A Long Branch Park Naturalist will be there with animals from 8:30-9:30 am
10:00 – 4:00*   Historic Ball Sellers House – Open House  RAIN or SHINE  (5620 3rd St. S.)  Colonial era re-enactors will show visitors how the earliest Glencarlynites really lived, worked, and made many of their own things.  Tour the oldest building in the county (C. 1742) and see how John Ball built his home and lived there with his wife and 5 daughters. Learn how Glencarlyn got its name. Snack on colonial era sweet treats.  All free.   arlingtonhistoricalsociety.org
10:00 – 2:00*  Hot Dog Roast   It just wouldn’t be Glencarlyn Day without having grilled hot dogs with all the fixin’s at St. John’s. They will have cold beverages too!
Pupusas and Baked Goods  Cristo Rey will be preparing home made pupusas – (stuffed corn tortillas)  baked goods and lemonade.

10:30-11:30 Community Library Garden Talk behind the Library (3rd & S. Kensington)- “Herbs for Flavor, Fragrance, Health, & Butterflies” with Judy Funderburk, Master Gardener in the Library Garden.

Glencarlyn Parade
The theme for the parade is “Paw Patrol On Parade”

11:15 – 11:45* Parade Bike & Float Ornamentation  Colored streamers and decorations will beavailable for decorating your stroller, bike, trike, wagon, or even your pet on a leash. Lexington between 4th & 5th
11:45 –  12:05* Parade  – begins promptly at 11:45features lots of kids of all ages, a fire truck, police cars. Route – (below) 4th & Lexington to 3rd – 3rd to Jefferson – Jefferson to 5th – 5th to Kensington – to Carlin Hall
  
12:00 – 3:00* Moon Bounce and Sno-cones Carlin Hall grounds (5711 4th St. S.)
Sno-cones will be available for $0.50  —  Moon Bounce is $0.50
12:30  – 2:00 Community Garden Tours & Plant Sale behind the Library (3rd & S. Kensington). Tours by Master Gardeners of the various gardens including native plants, those used for cooking, for fragrance or beauty of their flowers or foliage.  “Garden notecards” and some plants will be on sale.
2:00  – 4:00 Glencarlyn House ToursRAIN or SHINE  – Tour includes four homes built in Glencarlyn over the decades, in addition to the Historic Ball Sellers House  5620 3rd St. S, the oldest house in Arlington. The location of homes on the tour were in the flyer delivered to your home. Check at potluck, pancake breakfast or Carlin Hall (12-2 Sat) for a map and a list of homes on the tour.
6:00  –  7:15* Rain Date Pot Luck Supper  – side yard of Carlin Hall – 5711 4th St S. –  Bring plenty of food to share.  Beverages, plates and eating utensils provided. Don’t forget a lawn chair or blanket.  (If it’s raining we will be in the basement of St. John’s Church – enter from the double doors on the 5th street side). RAIN or SHINE
