GCA to Begin Community Dialogue on Race
As stated in our bylaws, the Glencarlyn Citizens’ Association is a secular, non-political, non-profit association of citizens organized to foster and enhance the civic good and the quality of the lives of all the residents of Glencarlyn.
We are a caring community and we stand united against racial and social injustice. We do not and will not tolerate overt or implicit racism. We must recognize our own biases and acknowledge the experiences of our neighbors.
To that end, GCA plans to begin a dialogue on race, with one or a series of meetings, in the hope of finding ways to be advocates for change. This is an opportunity to listen and learn, fostering a greater awareness of our own biases and learning how to overcome them. By having a conversation at the community level, we can address ways to increase diversity, inclusion and fairness. We can take action to bring about the kind of society to which we aspire.
We are starting with a short survey to gauge neighborhood interest and involvement in sharing experiences and fostering communication. Please take the time to fill out this survey and join in our efforts.
We are limiting the survey to GCA residents only.
To receive the survey, sign up for GCA Updates by emailing your name and address to: gcaupdates@glencarlyn.org
