Our Glencarlyn Library Centennial will be QUITE THE CELEBRATION, with fun, FREE activities, food and games for the entire family. The event begins at 12:00 noon IN Glencarlyn Library with a Scavenger Hunt and Book Making Tables for the children and Visual Displays and Oral Historical Discussion for the Adults.
We will have a Video Corner to permanently preserve your stories and memories about our Library, and Story Boards to post your notes and thoughts.
The official, and brief, Rededication Ceremony and cake cutting will be at 1:00 pm, with members of our County Board participating. Light refreshments will be served.
Following the ceremony, the celebration will spill out into the Library Garden and onto the grounds of Carlin Hall for a 1920’s-themed Country Fair. There will tents, activities, games, music and food including hot dogs, popcorn and cotton candy! All based on the roaring 1920’s and ALL FREE and open to community members, library supporters and patrons.
Dr Mark Benbow, Arlington Historical Society, will speak about the Library and Glencarlyn over the years. The Library Community Garden will have an Open House.
A FREE COMMEMORATIVE TOTE will be given to each family to fill with checked-out books. We thank FOAL for their generous support.
